I'm from Oklahoma, and we have a LARGE variety of quality authentic Mexican restaurants back home, so when I say that this place was awesome, I mean it. The food was incredible - my family ordered a variety of dishes, all with an incredibly mouth watering authentic Mexican flavor. The pollo con arroz was awesome, and the salsa and quest was original, and delicious. The absolute best part of this place, however, was the service. Our server, Miguel, was AMAZING! He was so considerate, and sat down just to talk with us. There are not enough "Miguels" in the service industry anymore. It was refreshing to get to know him. All-in-all, definitely take the time to come here while in Steamboat Springs - it's well worth it!

4.5 stars. Minus 1/2 star for the margarita, which my friend found to be too heavy on the sugar and too light on the alcohol. The food was authentic, and the portions were large. I got the chili verde burrito, which was mostly meat. My friend liked his burrito. I feel like you can't go wrong. The salsa was also really good. The service was a bit slow, but the place was packed. And for good reason.

Delicious food! We had a variety of flautas, enchiladas, tacos, and the meatball soup. Everything was delicious, cheesy, authentic as it can get in Steamboat Spings, and decently priced. Service is quick and efficient.

You know what I hate? When my husband and I put the plates to the side to clearly signify that we are done with our meals and 4 or 5 people walk by and don't bother to pick up our plates. Better yet, when you can't find your waiter and have to wait a good 10 minutes after you've eaten to get your check. The food was okay but the service was very disappointing.

  • Stacey W.

With our party of 10 and no reservations, they were able to seat us immediately! We were served chips and salsa immediately and the margaritas were awesome! We ordered the Plata Margarita. The meals were all big proportions...very great authentic food and service! I had the Azazco's Chicken & veggie plate, with mushroom, peppers and onions. Over rice. So good. The fajitas was also a great dish. My husband ordered the enchilada and rellano plate. He left nothing on his plate. Definitely would recommend.

  • Valery L.

This place was typical, average Mexican food...which makes it better than I expected in Steamboat. The service seemed rushed and not extremely friendly. Selection is good (tons of vegetarian items) and the margaritas are big.

  • Heather D.

The service was okay. The decor was well done. At 7:30 on a Saturday night in September, it was 60% empty. We ordered enchiladas crema and regular enchiladas. Both sauces weren't quite right. The regular tasted too way much like chili powder, and the white sauce tasted like diluted sour cream. Their salsa is very good. The tamale was odd and rubbery. The tacos were not great. Nothing was terrible, and the prices weren't bad. Mountain town restaurants are generally sub-par and overpriced, so I'd give this less stars if it were anywhere else in Colorado.

First of all, surprized to see an authentic Mexican restaurant at a ski resort in the middle of Colorado. That being said, the food was excellent, hot, and very tasty. I really liked that they greet every customer in Spanish. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated.

Simply put, This is the best dining experience Steamboat Springs has to offer.

our first time here....first impression was not so good, hostess did not acknowledge us till almost 5 minutes after standing at the front desk. She was polite, we understood because it was very busy. We ordered the specialty Fiesta Enchilada w/chicken and it was delicious!!! it was more like a huge buritto, rather than an enchilada, it was full with white shredded chicken and was very filling! 4 stars out of 5 due to first impression!

I'm not quite sure what possessed us to order coconut shrimp appetizer in land locked steamboat springs in a Mexican restaurant, but they are amazing

    (5)
  • Chris H.

We convinced the entire family to come back fo r dinner, another good round of food and drinks. I think I like the Cadillac better than the original margaritas. The signature dish Arroz Con Pollo was good, but I liked the Mole' better...

Whenever we have friends in town my boyfriend and I always make a stop at Fiesta. We are from Phoenix and are huge fans of Mexican cuisine, and this place is one of the best places I have ever been including Phoenix area restaurants. Try the chicken en mole, you won't regret it. The arroz con pollo is also a big hit. Pair it with one of their oversized and delicious margaritas and you're sure to have the ultimate experience. Friendly attentive service, amazing food, and an extensive tequila list..what more could you ask for?

Found Fiesta Jalisco on Yelp, read reviews and went with it. Have to say it was AWESOME! Go authentic, burritos, enchiladas, etc. Oh, grab the house margarita. Great drink, great price!!!

  • Catherine P.

Decent Mexican food for a mountain town in CO. I'm used to CA Mexican food (the best) in my opinion. The relleno was soggy and had a wierd flavor. The chicken enchilada was good. The beans were really good as was the salsa. The hubby had the Chalupa which was he thought would have had shredded pork, it was chunks and not flavorful. The green chili soaked through the shell, so it was more like a taco salad. Why do mexican restaurants always set the tacos or chalupas right in the beans? To make them impossible to pick up & to frustrate their patrons, of course!

    (3)
  • Angie G.

Original margaritas are excellent! Salsa is also very, very good, so much so that we got some to go! Good, pleasant service. Clean environment. Overall, great dinung experience!

    (5)
  • Abby M.

Awful service, the wait staff was all very short and not accommodating. The food was average, the fajitas were all onions/peppers with minimal chicken. Definitely would not return.

  • Ira H.

We came in as a party of 8 during a crowded presidents vacation week. They were able to seat us quickly . The guacamole was very good as were the fish tacos. The Milagros margarita was excellent. The food all came out amazingly fast which we appreciated. We would return.

This has become our favorite Mexican restaurant in Steamboat. Great food and excellent margaritas. The Carne Asada is hard to beat.

My favorite margs and Mexican in Steamboat! They have taken great care of me whether I am in a party of two or 30.

  • Karin M.

We were disappointed last year when we came to this restaurant but returned this year for another chance - after all, I expect good Mexican food in Colorado. And this restaurant always has a full house. But I really don't know why. Our coronarita was water flavored beer, service was terrible (our food took forever, we got the wrong kid drinks, no water even after asking) and the food was meh. I know we have high expectations (come to Pancho's in franklin, TN!) but still. Won't be returning.

Had a great meal. Puerco Asda. The poblano peppers were great with the pork. With a well made Cadillac margarita. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and fast service. The location on Apple maps was on the wrong side of the street

  • Buck B.

Wonderful experience. Our server at Fiesta Jalisco joked with the kids, was quick with their drinks and food, and generally made us feel very welcome. A had the Al Carbon tacos - wonderful - and I had the Al Pastor tacos - better than wonderful. My marg was a bit sweet but A's was just right. Will definitely be back next trip.

Outstanding fresh shrimp ceviche. Made to order so you may have to wait a bit but well worth it.

  • Trevor M.

Atmosphere is classic Mexican. Margherittas were delicious. Food was very good, but I'm a big hot sauce fan and all they had was Tapatio. If the had a wider hot sauce collection, they would have got 5 stars.

    (4)
  • Julia F.

Very accommodating to our large family with kids, tasty food, and strong margaritas. The seafood enchiladas were delicious

Fajitas, burritos, skirt steak to die for. Chimichanga dessert must have!!!

  • Kelli A.

I can't comment on the food. We called ahead and were told they would have a table ready for us in 20 minutes. We arrived and waited there for 30 minutes and left after they seated another party of our size that was further down the list than we were. They need a new hostess. She is completely disorganized. Terrible experience.

We've been coming to Fiesta Jalisco for years. We currently live in Steamboat. It used to be our Mexican restaurant of choice. However, after tonight's experience, we won't be going back again. We were having dinner with out of town friends, vacation home owners in Steamboat, who have also eaten at this restaurant many times. We had just finished eating and signing the credit card receipts. We were talking with our friends while waiting for the waiter to come back and pick up the bill. Before he even came, a waitress came and told us to leave, that she needed our table. A moment later, our waiter came to pick up the bill, and he also told us to leave. We were all taken aback at how rude they both were and how they couldn't seem to get us out of the restaurant and turn our table over fast enough. When our friend said that maybe we should change the tip, the waiter snatched the signed credit card receipt from him and left. Apparently fast table turnover has become much more important than friendly, customer service at this restaurant. My husband brought up our experience to the hostess on our way out and she just exclaimed, "We need the table!" This was after telling her that we had been loyal customers for years. We haven't felt so disrespected by restaurant staff, ever.

Went there for Cinco de Mayo, and sat at the bar. It took a long time to be waited on which was strange since the place was nearly empty. When we finally did get our drinks, we had to wait again to get the bartenders attention to ask for chips and salsa. He brought them to us but with no napkins, so we had to wait again and ask for napkins and also for the cabbage salad that is supposed to come with the chips and salsa. I noticed on his way out of the kitchen with the cabbage salad some of the cabbage was hanging off of the plate, so he picked it up with his bare hand and put it back onto the plate. Quite disturbing to say the least. Once again, we had to wait when my husband wanted another beverage. To top it all off, it took 20 minutes to pay the bill. There were other people experiencing the same lack of service because I heard them asking for utensils when their meals finally came and also napkins and additional drinks, chips and salsa etc. Needless to say, not a good or festive experience.

Food was pretty good. Service was horrible. Don't expect to bring a coupon and them honor it they will find a way to say it doesn't work. Probably won't be back again. Thanks for screwing up a Father's Day lunch!!!!!

My husband visited Fiesta Jalisco the week before on a guys, ski weekend and raved about it so we went there with our 3-year old this past Sunday night. It was not busy but that is because it was only 5:45 PM. It was filling up when we left. The service was great, the food was delicious and the house margaritas were really tasty. To top it off, the prices were not super inflated like most places in a ski town are to compensate for high rent. Only problem is that it is tucked into a strip mall and you would not find it unless you knew where it was. Seek it out, it is worth the visit!

  • Cher H.

Doesn't look like much from the outside but once you step inside, you smell incredible Mexican food. Original margaritas come in a martini shaker and they're excellent. Everything we ordered was fantastic - tacos, coconut shrimp, enchiladas and rellenos. Great place!

    (5)
  • Aaron V.

Great authentic Mexican. The sides make the dish at this place - the rice and beans taste amazing. I had a relleno enchilada combo - relleno was great - chicken in the enchilada was dry. Everything else makes up for it. Try the house margarita.

First stop this season for a BIG lunch. When I stopped at 1400, they offered both a lunch and dinner menu. Since I just completed 10000 vertical feet in the morning, I opted for lunch. Selecting two enchiladas, what I got was a huge plate of rice, Cole slaw, and two of the enchiladas stuffed and I do mean stuffed with shredded chicken. Biggest portion I have had at any Mexican restaurant in the states. Coupled with an Arnold Palmer in a huge glass that was never empty, I got a great lunch for $11 plus tip. No wonder Fiesta is my first choice for Mexican in Steamboat.

Good food, good, friendly service. Food: 4 Service: 4 Overall: 4

    (4)
  • Gleneda H.

Not the best nor definitely not the worst Mexican food I've ever had, but I thought it was rather expensive even for a Colorado mountain town. I had the chimaghanga which was rather small and although completely stuffed with chicken, the chicken was really bland. Beans, rice and house margarita were just average. Service was good but since I was one of only a few customers on a Saturday night, the staff was not overly busy. Found a better place the next day.

  • J C.

Very tasty authentic Mexican food. Family owned with a great atmosphere. Our family really enjoyed talking with the staff, the music and decor. The food was well seasoned and came in generous portions. Highly recommend it for a great family experience.

  • William K.

We had a very nice dinner by the stream. Service was friendly, the portions were huge, and the margarita delicious. The only downside was the mole tasted more like a teriyaki.

    (4)
  • Lynn F.

Good margaritas, green chile, taquitos. They have bar area with 3 TVS and still family friendly. Also outdoor patio by river.

    (5)
  • Oliver S.

Mediocre Mexican. The mole sauce on the enchilada was thin and weak, the chile relleno was okay but not great, and the soup was unimpressive. I didn't try the drinks. It's only decent cheap Mexican at expensive resort town prices.

I hate doing this because I really have to start off by saying that my Crazy Donkey burrito was delicious ... once I actually received it. :( We had a reservation for a large group (more than 30) ... that they lost. We should have known it would be trouble at that point. Once we were seated (20 minutes later), it took them 40 minutes just to take our drink order. I will say ... our waitress was working her tail off ... one waitress for more than 30 people ... are you kidding me? Poor girl. We stopped the manager several times to see if we could get the kids meals ordered right away since it was getting so late. This lady could care less that we existed. Finally, got the kids meal ordered when our drinks came out. Then it was another 40 minutes before they took the adult orders (if you're counting that means that it took them more than an hour and a half to take our food order). Some people actually left without eating because the kids couldn't stay still that long. The margaritas were good and our waitress did her best. But management ... there is something wrong with management for this to be such a problem on a MONDAY night. Ugh.

  • Ashley B.

Fiesta Jalisco still remains at the top of my list for Mexican in Steamboat. The food remains consistent. The menu is large and offers something for everyone. The portions are still HUGE. The margarita list is still long and extensive, the special margarita still remains my favorite, and the glasses are still the size of my head. The table service is pleasant and efficient, not a dining experience. I certainly recommend making reservations during busy season, especially Friday and Saturday nights. However, the hostesses are still my major gripe. Yet again we made a reservation and called multiple times to confirm. Yet again we arrive at the restaurant to a very confused hostess trying to play like we didn't make one, after a few minutes she found our reservation. You either take reservations or you don't ... gotta improve the hostess position.

This is my all time favorite Mexican restaurant! Every time I visit steamboat to ski I make sure to eat here and order their delicious carne asada. By the time the meal comes I'm so stuffed from the tortilla chips that I always take a doggy bag lol. And Margaritas are mouthwatering!

Awesome queso. Amazing enchilada sauce. Quick service. I will definitely be back--the food was very flavorful and not like a lot of the other bland Mexican reśtaurants.

I go to this place every time I come to Steamboat. Great food and great service. The service is fast even when the place is really busy. I particularly like the carne asada!!

Adequate little Mexican joint. We popped in here after a somewhat dismal tour of many chain restaurants near the hotel we were staying. The food was good, not great. The margaritas were okay. We were pretty hungry. I'd probably not go back if I was in the area, it was just . . . sorta . . . Meh.

  • James T.

In Steamboat, you can generally find better wait service at the Mexican restaurants than elsewhere; so for treatment, it's pretty good. Most of the food is average, however, their Chicken en Mole is superb. The environment is fairly nice, with a partial view of Fish Creek Canyon. They obviously take a great deal of pride in their margaritas, which are offered in small, medium, and large, while the respective prices are Gasp, OMG, and WTF. .

We were looking for a nice place to eat in Steamboat Springs, and the Yelp reviews for this place were awesome. We got there and the smell immediately made me realize this place was special -- it was warming and soulful. Our waiter was very attentive and sweet and answered all of my foreign friends' questions to the best of his ability. Delicious salsa and homemade chips while we waited. AMAZING margaritas. I had the quesadilla w/ shrimp and veggies and my friend had the caesar salad. Both were executed really well. I couldn't even believe how perfectly done the shrimp was. Definitely a special place and always worth the trip!

  • Cory K.

Ate around 6:30pm. Was not too busy so we were seated right away. The chips and salsa was good with a great homemade taste. I had the pork carnitas which was simply OK. The meat was dry but the beans, pico, and rice was good. My wife had the shrimp fajitas. They was just OK as well. Favors were simple and not overstated. Overall a good meal, but not worthy of 5 stars.

  • Bonam I.

We ate a late lunch and really loved it. Good portions, great service, nice atmosphere and delicious Margaritas...had the specials at a dollar off. The medium size Margarita was equal to about three drinks. The food was fresh, authentic and flavorful. We came with our kids who are picky eaters and they enjoyed every bite. The margarita list is extensive and goes from traditional with a twist to more "fun-frozen cocktails". It is a great place to check out while in Steamboat for vacation winter or summer.

We got there at 7:04 on their clock for a 7 pm reservation for a party of 8 and they said our table was gone. And they would not be able to sit us for 40 minutes. We made the reservation 2 weeks ago. There were five other groups waiting that they had done the same thing to. We went La Fiesta Grill instead.

If people in Orlando, FL were telling me about how good this place is I had to try it out. They were right. It was the first time I had ever had something with a Mole' sauce on it and it was amazing. I could have bathed in that sauce. All the Mole's I've had since then have not been the same. Service was awesome. Our server was very polite and attentive. Portion sizes were generous. I had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. The salsa was homemade and everything tasted super fresh. Best thing of all I think I spent about twelve bucks! You should absolutely try this place if you're in the mood for good, authentic Mexican.

First time visiting Steamboat and definitely not the last! Didn't know what to eat after a long day of boarding with friends... Mexican food is what we were after... so we all yelped it and decided on this place. I'm glad we did! We were a party of five and got seated quickly. The staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs. I must say their "original" margarita 24oz. is pretty good. Have 2 of them and that'll make you feel warm and fuzzy inside :) Food was delicious... I had their beef enchilada, and OH MY was it amazing!... Others ordered carne asada (yum), rib eye (perfect medium rare), and a shrimp burrito (also very tasty). All were cooked exactly how we wanted. I gave it one less star because @ 8pm they were already out of rice. Most their meals comes with beans and rice, and they were out when we ordered. Overall ,the place was clean, service was great and food and atmosphere was awesome... if I were ever in the area again, I would most likely return!

  • Tara P.

We ate here on a Monday night, so it wasn't extremely busy or crowded. I had a medium "cabana margarita" that was 15.95. I have had $5.00 margaritas that were better. Our server was friendly but hardly ever around. My husband had a beef chimichanga but the beef was too spicy for him and he ate 4 bites. The chicken enchilada was good though. All in all for the price it wasn't worth it. Not horrible but I would not return.

I came here for a business meeting that consisted of a couple of beers and guacamole so it's hard to give a true rating. I can say that the patio was very relaxing, the happy hour prices were very fair and the guacamole was very tasty.

Between town and mountain in the back of a strip center--you need to hunt it down. Extremely kid-friendly and the food is very good. Huge menu. All of the grilled meat dishes (carne asada and chicken-based) are really tasty. I like the mole, the green sauces, and the chile relleno a lot too. The relleno has an almost omelet-like outer coating rather than a deep-fried bread, and the interior is more like a soufflé (cheese, milk and flour?). It's substantial, but not gut-wrecking cheesy. The back patio is one of the nicest outdoor places to eat with kids--not fancy, and there's no big view, but it's right on Fish Creek with very little sense of traffic (there is an office-park lot next door, but it's not busy). We like going and letting the kids play along the creek until the food comes. Then they eat and run back to the creek, which lets me and my wife enjoy a peaceful, unstressed meal. The sopapillas are nice, and they're free on your birthday (they used to sing to you too, but they've stopped that). I'm not crazy about the margueritas, but I prefer beer with my Mexican food.

  • Tom N.

My wife and I and another couple had dinner at Fiesta Jalisco's tonight & it was fantastic. I had the chicken enchilada and my wife had the burrito. They were both delicious, the best ever. Our friends had burrito's as well and said they were out of this world. The two drinks cost more than one of the meals, so you might want to stick to soft drinks. We will come back again before our vacation is over.

  • Dianne R.

Awful! The hostess was rude, just throwing down the menus and walking away, based on the wait staffs' attitudes, we were imposing on them, the food was mediocre at best, and we waited 20 minutes for our credit card to be processed. Go somewhere else! You'll be treated better!!

Another great Yelp! find. After making the beautiful drive from Aspen to Steamboat in the family cruiser, we were looking for a good meal when we pulled into town. Mexican is usually the preferred fare for our family so we looked around Yelp for help. Restaurant Jalisco received favorable reviews, so we gave it a shot. First off, their classic margarita is just the way I like it, simple. Tequila, Cointreau, and lime juice. It comes in its own shaker left at the table and was excellent! The food was very good. I had Arroz con Pollo. Seasoning was spot on and it was a large amount of food. My wife had Enchiladas and before I could ask her how they tasted...they were gone. I would highly recommend Fiesta Jalisco when in Steamboat!

  • Georges G.

Food was really good the staff was excellent. The staff was very attentive, the food was great for the money, in fact it was way too much food. I had the fajitas and it was so much food I was only able to eat half. I will return here when I return to Steamboat.

Was in Steamboat for the weekend and found this place. 5 of us dined there and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our food. The Original Margaritas were great as well. If in town again I would go back here before trying something else.

Not a bad place for Mexican fare in northwestern Colorado. I figure, if they at least know what region of Mexico they represent, they've got a bit more 'on the ball' than most places. One of the few places I encountered out west that knew a 'taco al pastor' from hole in the wall. Caution though, they do tend to smother everything in sauce, so if you don't prefer that (like myself) you need but ask and they'll leave 'em dry for you. If memory serves me, I think they even had horchata (sweetened rice water with a hint of cinnamon) a rare treat.

Heat it up after a day on the slopes...venture off the mountain a bit and be rewarded with tangy margaritas and an authentic menu jam packed full of every dish you'd ever crave. From seafood enchiladas to al pastor tacos, it's all there for you to gorge on.

If you like Chilis, this place is for you. If you actually like Mexican food (ie the food they actually eat in Mexico)- walk on by. This is to Mexican as Dominos is to Italian. I don't get the amazing reviews. We found it pretty gross, premade and frozen foods. My 7 year old calls it 'the place with the awful food'

Fiesta Jalisco was a great restaurant. The service was outstanding and we loved the food. I ordered the carne asada, which was fantastic. My wife had the chicken mole which she loved also. My youngest ordered a taco from the kids menu and she thought it was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Everything tasted really good and fresh- delicious salsa, lots of nice heat in the burritos, loads of spinach in the enchilda. Cabbage salsa is really good (way better than at Tequilas...well, that goes for everything here). Excellent service until the very end when I think our sweet and gracious server went to take a little siesta. But no worries; we were pretty relaxed after a full day of skiing and a pile of good mexican food!

Closest thing to Tex Mex in Steamboat. This family has perfected the art of running a great Mexican Food Restaurant. Food is very, very tasty and fresh, affordable and you'll never leave hungry. Excellent service! Huge menu, great margaritas. I normally go for one of the combination dinners, tacos al carbon de carne asada or the enchiladas suiza! Awesome! The servers love to speak Spanish so feel free to give it your best shot. Children are always welcome, they love them here. Order some "mild salsa" for anyone that's not interested in a little heat. Have fun and save a little room for some sopapias!

Perfectly adequate Mexican food. Portions are big, the food is pretty tasty, and the margaritas are HUGE and fantastic. The desserts are pretty awesome too, if a little too big.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
